The Window Manager Report - Notes: awesome (20080806)

• massive memory footprint (on ia64) for reasons I don't understand: the claim is that it's small etc. etc. and it should be, being based on dwm
• I use wmii a lot and use the "Win" key instead of the "Alt" key that wmii defaults to: this means awesome's keybindings are very familiar to me.
• the awesome menu ... strikes me as dmenu with most of the good sucked out of it. I like dmenu. awesome-menu's take on matching and completion is very weird and not very useful.
• I like the default window layout, and I like the choices you're given about layouts and maximization ... well done.
